Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur
Jewish families in our community will begin the celebration of Rosh Hashanah on Friday, September 15th. The high holidays end 10 days later with Yom Kippur.
Rosh Hashanah, literally “Head of the Year” in Hebrew, is the beginning of the Jewish new year. This year Rosh Hashanah begins on Friday, September 15, 2023, and ends on the evening of Sunday, September 17, 2023. Please remember that no homework or assignments should be due on Monday, September 18th.
Yom Kippur, known as the Day of Atonement, is considered the most holy day in Judaism. This year, Yom Kippur begins at sunset on Sunday, September 24, 2023 and ends at sunset on Monday September 25, 2023. Schools are closed on Monday, September 25th in observance. Please remember that no homework or assignments should be due on Tuesday, September 26th.
